Darling Dominica,
The travel editors at National Geographic (dot) com have “hand-picked” Dominica as one of the top 20 Best Trips of 2011!
Their take:
A lack of white sandy beaches and an overabundance of rainfall keep this mountainous island of tropical rain forests off typical Caribbean vacation itineraries—a plus for adventure seekers.
Stumbling across this nugget on my recent WEB travels, I couldn’t have been more proud and right on the heels of the islands inclusion into the hottest pot on the fire at the moment
The nature island was among such rare and varied locales as Uruguay, Namibia, Tunisia, Papua New Guinea, Gaspé Peninsula, Quebec, Sardinia, Italy and Laos.
Not surprising at all since it was Dominica which birthed and held in its sweet embrace one of the most beautiful people I have had the pleasure of knowing.
Meet my darling friend Veronica:
What is it that makes this island, and by strength of virtue her people so special. I will use my friend as an analogy.
Her eyes are the hazel quality that reflects greens and blues at turns, very reminiscent of the Emerald Pool above. She has an unsuspecting quiet nature and she loves strong. She is a keeper of secrets and an encourager to the ends of the most troublesome terrain. She will cry when you can’t, or won’t, much like her islands waterfalls. She speaks love before you visit and well after you have left her presence. And as if she needed one more high note, she manages without fault (in my eyes) to be what many woman find hard, and that is her own woman, a woman’s woman and a man’s woman.
She has always said to me: You need to visit my island with me. You’ll love it! You see, a stateswoman and true ambassador even living, loving and working hard in St. Croix, V.I.
What’s not to love! She is the ultimate reason I would want to visit this place of untroubled natural beauty. Although, this thumbs up via one of the few magazines to get cover to cover love from me is not a bad push at all.
Darling Dominica, I for one cannot wait to meet you.

Good Morning wide #Caribbean. Hello Darling Dominica!
http://dasheenmagazine.com/darling-dominica/
This is painful considering my view right now is a cold grey looking atmosphere. Viva Dominica! Must visit some day
Viva Dominica indeed! whenever I check out my front page and see that view of the waterfall, it’s just the most indescribable feeling. I just think ‘there’s escape and then there’s escape!’ And so accessible. I pray soon. Thanks for sharing!
